My male budgie Lenny tries to mate with my female penny. Lenny sings and dances for penny but she is ignoring him. he also tries to kiss her but she bites him. My female budgie does not move much and she doesn't mind my hand. She does not talk/sqwak much. They have been together for 1 1/2 month. They are both a year old. I plan on breeding them in march. Jo

she is probably not ready to breed, we suggest waiting until they are at least a year or in your care for at least a year

I fear that penny might be sick because she sits in the same place all day and does not squeak much she does not even check around the cage or try to bond with lenny

Have you had them only 1-1/2 months? If you have had them longer, was her behavior different before? Is her poop normal? How about her eating and drinking? You may want to consider having her checked by a vet.

The green poo along with inactivity is a bit worrying, especially if the green poo has been going on for a long time. I would like to see some of the more expert members weigh in on this one. Are her eyes clear and bright? Are her feathers puffed up a lot of the time?

I know this sounds weird, but can you get a picture of her droppings? Is the green a bright lime green color?

She used to puff her feathers when I got her and I realized that her stomach is bigger than my males and in the past few days she has been using the cuttlebone a lot

She may be getting ready to lay if she is eating a lot of calcium and is a bit heavy in the tummy :/ Could you take a picture of her?

No egg yet and I still have not given her a nest box but I think she has a big belly because of inactivity because when I touch her stomach I feel her when I touch Lenny stomach it is hard

you have to hit the button to reply, instead of in the quick reply box. You will find the image attach button in the tool bar.
