Merry Christmas! I hope Santa leaves plenty of millet in the little darling's stocking.

Merry Christmas! Sounds like things are going well. He is being playful with you, which is a great sign!

If he is putting his head upside down I wonder whether he wants head scratches. Emma, my cockatiel, does this to Piper, one of my budgies, and then he will preen her head. However, if you want to try, be very slow, approach from the front, and back of if his body language changes. Emma will not let me touch her head--"NO, thank you very much. Keep your hands to yourself, please!"

So I learned more about "Dakotah" He was given to a elderly lady about 16 years ago. She never hand tamed him nor did much else with him as she was afraid he may escape. After she passed away he was given to a daughter who again did nothing with him. The paramedic had him for 2 years in a heated garage with limited shall we say face time. He is still skittish whenever he sees a hand and to be quite frank, I don't think I can change him. I am content just sitting next to him, he is much more active, sings and whistles but I notice he has a hard time getting around with that curved foot. So I will honor his old age at this point and make sure he is well fed and happy??
Thanks Birdmaid

Poor bird. I'm so glad he now has someone who will sit beside him and speak kindly to him.

If you are content with a relationship like this, and you are both happy and healthy, then there is no reason to change anything
