A few days ago I was at Petco and saw two birds I ALMOST walked out with. My husband was the only thing holding me back T-T Anyone know what these mutations are so I can look for them in the future?
This one had dark brown/brown markings on her wings instead of black! I was staring at it for about 20 minutes. This one had so may shades of blue it almost looked purple (in fact it was such a different shade of blue, you could spot it from all the other blue budgies) My last question is--in the WAY future--what mutation outcomes would I get if Whisper and Bubbles had babies? They are both exceptionally beautiful, and with one being vibrant colors and one subtle colors, I'm wondering what their chicks would look like ^-^
Here is a picture of Whisper and Bubbles

Are Cinnamon's rare? Because if so I'm going right back to the store and getting her >_< So would Whisper and Bubble's babies be opaline? And what color variations?

I believe cinnamon are "rare" in the meaning they are more difficult to come across. It also depends I guess where you're from. I think in other countries they aren't as "rare" but I can never find them by me!

Also, does bubbles have yellowface? I see whisper does. Which I believe means you will have yellow-face babies, with the possibility of getting yf type 2! (My favorite!)

Oh >_< There were two of them in there I THINK but this one showed a lot. The one I took a picture of was a female. I really think I need to hold off because I want to get two more budgies next August at the Bird Fair in Lawrence ^-^ They always have such beautiful mutations there around the $8-$10...my husband and I have also been talking about getting two English Budgies instead.

And nope! Bubbles is not a yellow face type 1. I don't know where he got the yellow part from---probably from his banana mineral block in his cage haha! If I ever get YF2 (if I got any more budgies and wanted to breed) I will definitely drive up and give you one XD and while I'm driving, I'll stop by and get a rainbow one from BB

$8-10?! That's awesome! I never have cool fairs with budgies by me.. At least not that I know of. Every time I go to petco I check out the budgies. I don't want another but at the same time I do -_- I would love for a cinnamon! I'm no expert, but I have only seen cinamon on the green parakeets so I'm starting to think it doesn't exist on blue

I think it would be beautiful on a blue parakeet! I just googled, and if the mutation is right, here is a blue cinnamon! Attachments:

I'm going to continue browsing budgies of course. Maybe one day I'll find my dream budgie lol (not that I don't love Bonnie and Clyde!) just looking for something EXTREMELY eye-catching!
Oh my! Cinnamon on blue is BEAUTIFUL! I stand corrected, I want to find one of those!!

Lisa, about bird fairs---I'd look up Bird Fairs in your state. Lawrence is about an hour and a bit away from us, but WAY worth it. They have everything from Finches to Macaws there. We also love buying the HUGE bag of millet for $4 (The bag contains about $15+ worth of millet from any other store you buy) plus it's a lot bigger too. Food is also cheaper (but not the cheap quality) and you have individuals who make bird toys. They also have cheaper priced cages there, and a ticket rally type deal where they pull tickets and you can win cages and even birds!!! It's nice talking to everyone there and you can learn a lot and even teach others! To get in it's only $5 too. For a once a year bird fair, I would drive 2-3 hours to get there if it was like the one we go to.

Well, cinnamon is pretty hard to find, particularly with a good coloration, what would be called a show standard. The bird you showed here would be considered a fairly "poor quality" cinnamon, because the brown is so dark and it should have a red element to the brown, like this: The second bird is far more interesting. While not exactly rare, this coloration is made up of several mutations that collectively are often referred to as lavender. It was a very popular and sought after mutation some 40 or 50 years ago. This particular bird is also unusually pretty because of the opaline mutation showing off that unusual color. I believe it is usually achieved by a combination of either a cobalt single factor violet or a skyblue double factor violet (my best guess for what we are seeing here) and a very mild dilution which creates that gentle pastel appearance. While not a formal mutation, lavender birds are beautiful, aren't they? This one is a bit of a heart throb, I have to admit. If I were you, I would wait for the show. You would probably have fewer issues taming a breeder raised bird than a pet store bird, provided the people you buy from seem knowledgeable and kind. You may find something you like a lot more there, and of course you can't beat the show prices.

Aw! I feel a bit bad for that Cinnamon at the store. I was thinking, "Wow, the breeder must not have known what he/she had" But it still seems like she did meet the standards and was pushed aside. I'll wait out since I'm satisfied with the birds I have now---but who knows what it'll be like in a year Plus I really do want an English budgie now---and I have NO idea if there is any difference with mutations or personalities there.
