Santa, when Mistletoe was tested, his breeder clipped one toenail a tiny bit too short and got a weensy drop of blood from that and sent it to the lab she always uses for DNA testing. She was able to phone them just a few days later for the results. Then they sent a certificate in the mail that says Mistletoe is a boy. This process cost me $20 over the fee of $75 Mary charged me for Mistletoe. To me, worth every penny. I know for sure that he is a boy.
Two other methods for testing DNA are to 1) send in the egg shells a baby hatches from, or 2) pluck some chest feathers - this one seems the meanest and most painful to the poor bird.
