Day6, Monday, Polar opposite today! Stepped up first thing, stayed on my finger taking him out, sat on my finger the whole time and was able to move and switch hands a little. He is also a little more vocal today in his cage. I may try again later this afternoon and see how his response is for a second time during the day. Violetcloud, I am just curious, do you take Zeb out of the tent now, or are u still working in the tent? The other thing I have noticed is now Pickle won't step up at all when not in the tent? He was chirping pretty madly, so I went over to talk and see if he would step up and he was climbing to get away. Very thankful for a nice visit today. Thanks as always for your kind words everyone and your patience as I feel like I'm on here like a moody pre-teen:)

Love is hard! It makes pre-teens of all of us. Did Pickle used to step up out of the tent?

Hi Donna, Well done !!! Budgies are funny little things aren't they ? Just as you feel like giving up, they do just what you want them to, and what a buzz when things go well ! By going into tent with you and staying on your finger rather than flying off shows he must feel safe with you. Maybe this is what it will take with your little dude, to be with you, so he can see that you mean him no harm. Keep up your progress reports, its good to hear how you are getting on.

Sorry, i forgot to say that Zeb is still in tent at moment, was going to clip her yesterday but we had visitors turn up. Cant wait to get her out of cage. Also, with the step up business, when in tent with you, he is in relatively unfamiliar territory, whereas in his cage he knows he can just hop away. My Zeb was pretty much the same at first. Just give him time and I bet he will be fine. What sort of age is he ?

Day 7 Tuesday Things went well today again. Pickle stepped up first try, didn't fly back to perch, and sat on my finger the whole time despite some creaking door noises. I really enjoy being with my friend, he is very quiet, but I think he is starting to relax a little bit. When he looks around, it isn't like he is looking to take off, it is more curious looking around. I will post again in a couple of days and update progress.
Blessings!

That's great news! I'm glad to see your hard work is paying off! I'm sure soon enough you will be able to take the tent away and have him perch on your finger out in the open room
