If anyone read my original post, I deleted it and started over. The white cage is my current cage that I actually love, but is a bit small at 17 X 22. The dark cage I purchased yesterday used at a really good price. It is a really nice cage but only 19 X 24 so it doesn't really give the birds that much more room. The extra height is pretty much wasted space, accept I would have room for a swing. The cage I want is more than twice what I paid for this second hand cage. I can't really afford to pay more money so I guess the question to myself is do I keep this new cage and be done with my cage hunt or sell it and keep looking and saving for a bigger cage.

The problem is I am being very particular about the cage. I want horizontal bars and I want it to be pleasing to me. This is what I want. www.birdscomfort.com/arch_top_bird_cage.html (I don't think the link works. It is basically the same as my white cage, just lots bigger and on its own stand. It cost almost $200 plus another $100 to ship. There are a couple I could get online for just over $200. The question to myself is the extra inches in these more expensive cages, are they worth over a $100 more money. They are actually doing fine in the little white cage, I just want them to have more room, but I also want it to look nice to my eye in my living room. I want the horizontal bars because I watch them and it makes moving around much easier for them. The dark cage in the picture has only horizontal bars. However I prefer the feed cups on the front of the cage and 2/3 to 3/4 down from the top. See, I told you I was specific about what I want.

Thank you for suggestions on cages. I have a very specific criteria for what I want. Flight cages are nice, large and affordable but they do not have the horizontal bars I want. I am cleaning today and set up the new cage in the living room. I think this may work out for me. It isn't as large as I wanted, but anything larger I think will be overwhelming.

May I ask why you prefer the horizontal bars? They make no difference at all to the birds...

I think your new black cage looks fine for your two Cockatiels, with lots of out of cage time

Sarah I think it does make a difference to the birds. When I watch my birds when they grab the vertical bars they slip down. When they grab the horizontal bars they are able to maneuver around the cage easier. I am probably being silly but since Sweetie is already 15 and since I can see a noticeable difference between her and the much more agile Pearl, and since I hope to have her until she is elderly I want to make it as easy as possible for her to maneuver throughout her lifetime. Pearl will jump from perch to perch. Sweetie will look at it, think about it, and then chooses to climb, so I like to set up the cage for her to move around as easy as possible.

I see...
That's strange that Sweetie behaves that way. I wonder if she has a touch of arthritis. my cage has mostly vertical bars, and yet Pirate can climb up or down them with ease. He even intentionally slides down them like a fire pole when he doesnt feel like climbing down. Same goes for my budgies.

That's cute that Pirate climbs slides down his poles. Maybe Sweetie does have arthritis. I know when they are perched on my fingers Sweeties clasp is noticeable looser than Pearls.
Thanks ange. The more I look at this cage the more I like it.

On a typical week day they are out for about an hour in the morning and on a good day an hour at night. Weekends they are out several hours a day.
