I really don't know what you should do. Is the other chick being fed? I really can't find the link in my history file, but somewhere I read that when a pair is not feeding a chick, placing another chick that's hungry might stimulate the mum to feed both chicks. It didn't sound soooo right, but thought I'd share it (will keep looking for link) I don't know anything about trying to keep such a young budgie alive using formula

I don't have any experience. I have just read a lot of stuff on various budgie and cockatiel forums, and it has been suggested to take one of the parents out. You could try it and see.

Thank you so much, kmic, the other baby is being fed. I have fed budgie chicks with formula before, but they were around 3 weeks old when I did :/ it wasn't hard getting them to eat and they turned out to be very lovingly and sweet budgies when adult.
I just took Poki out (I left him on the playground I made for them, I hope it keeps him happy) and placed the baby back inside the nest, Leelo is currently looking at him because he's moving a lot.

Leelo is feeding the baby, I'm so relieved! I hope she doesn't try to take him out again.

So, she carried him 8 inches to the seed cup! Hmmmm I wonder if she thinks the seed cup is a better nest? Could this be because there is seed in there, sort of like bedding, and Poki keeps taking the bedding out of their own nest? I have no idea . . . I just can't help thinking about it. It is very stressful for you being responsible for these very young lives.

I find it quite confusing, maybe you're right Diana, your guess makes a lot of sense, maybe Leelo just wants their babies to be comfy as much as I do haha but Poki is very stubborn, I keep adding little pieces of cardboard like three times a day but he just seems to enjoy taking everything out.
He's still out, trying to get inside the cage through every bar, it doesn't seem like he's gonna give up anytime soon...

I just saw this thread, and am so relieved to read that Mama is feeding Baby. I hope and pray she will continue to do so.

Thanks Pammy No Luvs, it was Leelo who moved him but Poki insists on cleaning the nest from all bedding... They've been behaving so far, I had to put Poki back in the cage because I had to leave the house for a couple of hours, I just came back and they seem to be doing fine Thank you everyone for your advice and concern!
