Ok first of all, just to clarify, my apartment is not dirty haha.
I've noticed that when I let my birds out they go straight to the corners or the dark lines between the floor tiles and start pecking at them, like trying to eat dust or dirt or whatever they think they can find there. I was wondering, do wild budgies eat dirt? Is it bad? Do they need it?

Hmm, this is so strange, because just two or three days ago, my little Noel has started flying up to the "off" ceiling fan, and has been stuffing her head into little crevices and pulling out bits of dust and junk from where I can't shove a rag in and clean it out. I don't believe she is eating it, but she keeps dropping dust bunnies down onto the living room floor.
I know that humans who eat dirt or other weird things can have some deficiency in their bodies that they are subconsciously trying to boost. Maybe your birds are lacking some vitamin or mineral their little bodies need now during baby-raising, or maybe they just discovered a fun new game to entertain themselves. You have cuttlebone, mineral block, veggies, pellets, seeds, everything they need, right?

I don't have a mineral block, I thought the cuttlebone was kinda the same thing

No, a mineral block is different from a cuttlebone and provides different nutrients. I would get one just as quickly as you can.

Cuttle bone provides a source of calcium and a mineral block provides minerals. I am not sure which ones though.

Ohhh I see, thank you girls, I have to go downtown later, I need to get seeds and a new seed cup because Poki insists on kicking all the food out of it... I'm gonna go to the vet near here, it specializes in farm animals, I got the cuttlebone from there, I'm sure they will have mineral blocks

My birds have just taken to eating the moldings around my windows and one of my lampshades. I really have to keep an eye on them, because they don't take "no" for an answer.

Hmmm maybe they just like to chew things they don't have on their cage? xD

I guess sometimes it's just them being mischievious and enjoying doing things we wouldn't even think they'd do. Out of a whole room, be sure they'll go to the one place you didn't want them to go and stay nibbling at xD they really seem to want to taste everything and play with everything. (Obviously, if they're trying to find some mineral they're lacking, yes a mineral block will help, but mine have both a cuttlefish bone and a mineral block inside and outside of their cage and still try to eat every spec of dust amd taste every material in the room haha)

haha those naughty little things they just love it, don't they? If it's not right, they will definitely bite it xD Anyway, I went to like 3 pet stores/vets around here (I don't have a car so I have to go everywhere by foot or bus) and none of them sell mineral blocks a lady told me I could find them in Walmart, but I looked at the website and at least here in México, they don't have them. I guess I'll have to order them online after all...

Yes, that is Piper in the middle. He also has green across the top of his chest. I've been told he is pied, but can't remember if it's recessive or dominant.

It looks like Piper's headband slipped off his head and down to his chest and under his wings . He does have unusual coloration. What about the back of his head? Is it just striped with black? Hard to tell because his back is towards the camera.
