Smudgie says hello Brought her today from a breeder this is my 6th budgie I think it's a girl but she has not moulted yet she is a yellow based blue 60% diluted with clear flight and very smudged marking that's why I called her smudgie I will post a picture soon. Added (2013-10-25, 11:28 PM) --------------------------------------------- smudgie has been opening and closing her beak is this normal for young budgies ( I guessed she's about 8 weeks old she just learnt to fly and balance on Pearch.) I can't remember if this is normal.
Added (2013-10-25, 11:29 PM) --------------------------------------------- Smudgies first night was ok she didn't have a heart attack from noises and she woke every one up at 6:30am. I took here out into the lounge and put her by my Turquoisine my Turquoisine went wild in the cage at the sight of smudgie I don't think he likes her
Added (2013-10-25, 11:30 PM) --------------------------------------------- Today I put my hand in her cage to get her used to it for taming soon and she jumped on it my first every budgie to perch on me in one try. Also turquoise and her are not so shy of each other any more double success for if when I build my aviary and they go together.
Added (2013-10-25, 11:31 PM) --------------------------------------------- Budgies and turquoisines are both types of parakeet about the same size just different colours they should get along ok or leave each other alone my last pair of budgies that flew away got on perfectly with my cockatiel in my patio aviary. I will be careful though if it doesn't work I won't force it it's only an idea at the moment hope it works in the future though.
Added (2013-10-25, 11:33 PM) --------------------------------------------- Here is a video I made of smudgie so you can see her she didn't like the camera so she didn't chirp much in the video any way here it is.
Added (2013-10-25, 11:34 PM) --------------------------------------------- Smudgie and turquoise have started to chirp to each other (this is friendly chirp I know I have studied animal languages.) and friendly interact with each other if this continues I should be able to introduce them in a few weeks. ( I use a neutral space I don't see much difference in it than in the cage they live in. I just give them a warning squawk if they get hostile.)
I had a weird idea today when they are old enough cause they are both types of parakeets I looked around and decided it is probably possible to have budgwazines hybrid budgie x Turquoisine tell me what u think. In theory I think it should work.

If Smudgie's cere is truly as lovely pink as it appears in your picture, then Smudgie is a little boy.

budgies and turquoisines are two different species. thats like humans and monkies

Still not sure is smudgies a boy or a girl leaning towards boy now. But she is mental she has something wrong she can't keep still she's always getting into trouble she got her wing stuck in the perch between the food bowl and I had to pull her out she seems to have to try fit thru every small space she can find. But I can watch smudgie for hours ( unless she/he's asleep.)
She bites now like a female budgie would she has her first go at my hand wen I pulled her out but she is quite freindly now.

Oh Snowy I enjoyed reading Smudgies diary. I'm so sorry for your loss. My little Soren passed away from a similar accident and I know how much it hurts to find a little soul like that...
