Those of you that have mature male budgies: When they have selected a mate, how often do they mate with the female? Would a couple of times a day be within what you have observed?

Hm, when I had Teeki and Tweets together, they would mate probably at least 5 times a day. They are all separated now but I would assume they would mate however many times they can. Is Piper still being like that?

I would say it's about twice a day. Certainly when they first get out of the cage in the morning, then again in the afternoon. So, it doesn't sound out of the normal range.

I have two adult males and two adult females and I've not once ever seen any mating. Kringle and December are clearly in love and they are constantly smooching and sitting together, but never any attempt at mounting, I'm actually kind of glad. I wouldn't want to have to explain that to Natey yet, nor have to listen to my teenagers snickering about it. As it is, my 16-year-old son will comment, "They're being gross again," when he sees K&D kissing away.

I guess I'm just lucky LOL. Maybe it's because Piper is quite a bit younger. I guess he's like an adolescent boy.
