Sage my 8 months old Sky Blue Opaline Greywing has passed. I had both of them in the shower with me. Once done Inca and Sage would run after me back into my room which is directly across the hall. I checked down to make sure they where near me and went to put my hand down. Inca my Lutino ran to my hand while at the same time I went to shut the bedroom door. I slammed it on accident and walked over and put Inca into his cage I have a bookcase right next to my door and a few heavy books fell. My bookcase has only shelves and bars holding it up so books can fall easily off . Then I was wondering where was Sage since they flock call each other when they cant see each other. Went to pick up the few heavy books and found her struggling under my vet tech book. It had landed on top of her right below her neck. Her feet gripped the floor and her head started tilting to the side. I saw blood coming out her mouth She passed a few minutes later.
Inca has been flocking calling wondering where his companion is.
I feel awfully dreadful for what happened knowing it was somehow my fault.
I'm going to stay away from here for a while and give Inca sometime to get over the loss.
R.I.P. Sage

Awww, I'm very sorry to hear this. It was a freak accident, not your fault! I hope you find comfort. RIP Sage.

Thanks everyone.
Well guess I now have a question concerning my Lutino budgie Inca.
Ever since Sage's passing last week he has only come out of the cage a few times. When he's out he will run up and down me and chirp at me. Could he be depressed ? Do I need to retrain him ?

He's probably depressed, have you thought about getting another budgie?

He's looking for his friend. I wouldn't worry about restraining him, just give him lots of reassurance and calm voice until you decide if you want another friend for him. It's a hard transition for both of you.

Well the last 2 days he has wanted more interaction with me. I've thought of it but going to hold of for now. I moved his cage down to the living room to get more interaction with the rest of the family when im at work. When I had Sage I kept them in my room near a window plus I spent more time using my room to paint miniatures, watch tv and use the computer if Im not sleeping from 12 hour shifts.

Great choice giving him a different location and more people to interact with!

I'm thinking it's probably a good idea to move him away from those paint fumes, anyway. What kinds of miniatures do you paint?

I rarely paint in my room since thier isnt great lighting and the paints arent even weak smelling. Ive become Inca's personal morning crazy blooflowing wing flapping perch
