Oh my, the poor thing. :(Is she doing ok? She's doing well just not happy with having the e-collar on. She's trying to get to her cast. When the vet first examined her she was afraid that she broke her femur but instead broke the bone right below it due to low bone density. Gave her fluids, injectable pain med Took 3 xrays then had to give her an injectable anistec so they could pluck and set the leg. Well after 30 minutes she was still fighting the anestic so they had to gas her down once they got my permission. They explained it could be a bit so I told them I had kennel duty at the clinic I work at which is 30 minutes away. And it was only one dog The vet asked me to call her once I got to my clinic to get a update on her. Had to put her in a fish tank since she has to be confined. Had to also get some raised shallow bowls for her to eat out of. She is on 2 pain meds and a liquid calcium supplement. Go back in aweek for a recheck and a bandage change.

What terrible news!! I am so glad you were able to have her seen so quickly, and they seem very knowledgeable about how to care for her. I hope her recovery is uneventful and she mends quickly.

Well more grim news. I found her yesterday evening face first in her waterbowl. It was a smaller waterbowl then her normal one due to her injury. It looks like she fell on her ecollar into the water bowl and couldn't prop herself back up. I was at work doing kennel duty when this happened because she was fine when I left. What cruel luck I have to even with handtamed budgies I can't cherish those little featherballs for more then a few weeks to a few months. If anything happens to Inca my lutino budgie then that's it. Well shouldn't be long now I've had Inca since August and my luck seems to run out around 6 months of any budgie. I'm sorry for this post especially the end I just feel horrible right now.

Oh, I am so sorry. How awful for you. Bad things sometimes do happen to good people. I guess it sounds trite, but it's true. I have seen this in my life.

Oh, I am so very sad to hear this news I know you worked really hard to take good care of her, please don't despair! We went through a run of losing 3 birds in short amounts of time for different reasons, and I know it is painful. Don't give up hope, love the baby you have as long as you can. You have a good heart for pets, I know they know how much you care about them.

I still have my lutino budgie left Im not going to get another bird for some time but if I do it may be something like a lovebird or cockatiel
