A couple of questions: 1) so far the little ones are hatching on alternate days, bang on time. So there's still a chance that they're all fertile. When should I start getting worried that the parents won't manage to feed them all or keep them warm? 2) Out of curiosity, can birds see at night? The little ones seem to be hungry so often, that I guess they're hungry at night as well. Will the mother manage to feed them at night? They seem to be handling it quite well coz the crops are very often full. And if one of them's not, the young one is fed soon after. Thanks

EEE, how cute. Yes, it does. 1) I would monitor all of them very closely, and see which crop is filled. If you do notice that one or a few has not been fed then I would feed them. I am not sure how or with what though. 2) Yes, I believe so. They may not feed as often at night but as long as they are getting fed.

Awesome! I checked the pet store near me if they have formula. Apparently you just mix with water and feed them with a siringe. However when Iblooked it up, you must be extremely careful of the temperatue. Too hot or too cold can cause problems.
Btw, another hatched yesterday.
And I thought the one that hatched on Sunday died - found him at the bottom of the cage. Luckily I realised in time. He was still alive, crop full, but very weak. I placed him back and he survived the night. Haven't gone back home today yet.

Enjoying your updates. I hope the one that was on the bottom of the cage survives. Do you think one of the parents took him out of the box?

He seems ok today just got back and checked in on them before going to bed. Here's a photo (hope it works this time...) - he's the one facing towards the bottom of the photo...with his head between two of the unhatched eggs. I guess so re parents. He surely didn't manage to throw himself out, so that's the only thing I can think of. I'm hoping it was a mistake though. In the same way they throw shavings out, they threw one of their kids out by mistake.

Silly budgies. Haven't they ever heard the expression "don't throw the baby out with the bath water"? ... I think it applies to budgies too.
