Well after almost 2 weeks Lucky is doing very good on finger training. I train her in little doses at a time. After I brought her home my dog, Lucy a Dachshund, first barked when she sang or made noises. That stopped after a day or two, but what stayed was her barking when I trained or talked to the bird. Funny it bothered me more the Lucky, who ignored it.
So now I train them together. Lucy is 11 and when I train lucky I give her the command to be quiet and then sit. After training Lucky I then take Lucy to where I keep her treats and give her a crumb. This is working as now Lucy sees me training Lucky as a play time for her and a treat will follow, so it is a good thing.
When I let Lucky out of her cage I plan on doing that in my home office so Lucy will not be there.

It sounds like you have a good strategy!
It's funny how animals react. After the settling in period, I find that Roger, my six yr old male cat, is jealous of when I give attention to the birds. He is curious about them, but not aggressive toward them at all (don't worry-I don't leave him alone with them out of their cage). I need to give him pets and attention. He has become much more of a lap sitter since the birds are in the house. Sometimes he looks at me talking to the birds and I think he is saying, "I don't know why you want to talk to them when I'm here." Adele, my 7 yr old female cat is afraid of the birds. She leaves the room when I get them out.
You may have seen my previous posts about my birds fighting over access to the target stick & treats. I need to perch them on perches a distance apart in order to work with them. I am trying to get them to recognize their names as a cue as to whom I am working with.
What pleases me the most is that the budgies have learned to come to my hand if they accidentally fly onto the floor. I don't have to chase after them any more. It makes me feel so good when I put my hand down and say "[name] come!" and the cute little thing walks several feet to my hand and jumps up.
This morning they are eating their grated carrots. I'm so glad.

Wow that's a good plan you have there! I'm glad to hear it's working out.
