I'm curious at what age budgies are fully grown and mature. My budgies are about 5 months old. They have been molting for a couple of weeks. They don't look quite like some mature budgies I see pictures of. For example, the feathers on the head don't seem as prominent. I am wondering if they are still adolescents. Also, do fully grown male budgies have more prominent head feathers than females.

Oh. Thanks, Luvs. That's what I was wondering. I had looked on Wikipedia and they didn't say.

Budgies continue to change in appearance and get lusher plumage over their first several molts. I'd give it a year, year and a half for them to look completely adult as they will at five.

They must have been able to sense a very gentle spirit in her. Animals know when a person is good.

Animals know when a person is good. thanks but they have meet my parents a few times and had lunch with us at my place earlier in the year and Kyba was sitting on my dads shoulder talking n chirping at him while dad was eating his burger. I told dad you better acknowledge him or he's gonna get you. OH and Kyba got his neck good too so good made dad jump and tell me to get him so he could eat. LOL when we were done eating kyba went back to dad and they played just fine lol

Aww. It's great that you have a support system for your birds when you can't be around for them

Aww. It's great that you have a support system for your birds when you can't be around for them now and then I'll call my mom and ask her to come over and watch them for me. she'll ask me why my response is "because I need me some ME time they are being too needy mom " the whole time im laughing. Mom says well bring them on over then we can take care of them. then I'll tell her NO you guys come over here LOL it is cool how my parents have no problems watching them if I'm gone my dad gets a kick out of it, so much in fact that when they were watching them this past time Kyba actually let dad take him out of the cage and kyba got so comfortable around him that dad let him run around on their KING size bed while he watched tv just like we do at my place LOL. he even sit on dads shoulder and walk around the house like we do. I was shocked the first day when they came to the hospital and dad was bragging about this lol I got jealous and wanted my babies with me in hospital. we are a tight net family

THANKS Lisamarie be patient you'll have your bond it is harder starting off with 2 I was fortunate I had kyba for 5 months just me and him. I took off a whole week of work the day I decided to get him. I spent ALL DAY EACH DAY with him from morning til I put him to bed. I am still working with kylie and all my patience with her just paid off about 15 minutes ago I lest a post in my thread "I just thought..." thread about kyba n kylie. today it seems kyba has a little more interest in playing with his toys and kylie is wanting as much me time she can get bonding with me and I say this and kyba just climbs my leg up to me LOL I wonder if kylie will catch on n do this trick he learned himself LOL
