In that I believe all questions are good ones and only a dumb question is the one you do not ask, here is mine.
Do you all fill the seed/pellet cup up or just give enough , or a little more , for that day and repeat tomorrow?

Hahaha Santa, I don't have that problem luckily, but have you tried blowing farther away?

I literally laughed out loud on that one, Santa!
Like Diana, I feed enough for one day at a time and wash the dishes everyday. It's wintertime now, but I live in the south, where it's too hot a lot of the time, and I'm a little paranoid about yuckyness growing in the dishes.

Obviously if there is any fresh food in their seed cup, I change it every day. However, I really dislike waste and my birds are so picky about which seeds they eat first. I tend to use the 'Top up' method. Usually I will empty and wash the bowls about every 2-3 days, but I remove hulls, swirl the seeds around and add a little scoop more several times a day until the birds make a really good dent in all the kinds of seeds before starting with a completely fresh bowl. I never allow the seed/pellet mixture to become wet. One bit of poo, drop of water or piece of fresh food in there and it goes out.

I usually feed in two dishes. One seeds and pellets and one fresh foods with small amounts of seeds over the top. My first budgies have been with me two years now, and are good little eaters. They have taught the others to try new things I always leave in some seed and pellets, especially when I am not home all day.

That sounds like a great system, but each owner and bird is a little different. It's important to find what works- and it sounds like you found the right method for you
