So i have been doing a bit of upgrading to my avairy and thought i would share some photos  I got my Hubby to cut parts of a gum tree up so i can use them as 'tables' in my avairy. Ill be getting some bolts and plant pot base's to go on top so i can place food ect in them. For now im just using plastic plates Im also looking for things i can use to make some toys for them, ill try to find some this weekend. |

So what's the weather like there in NZ? It looks lovely in the photos. Do your birds handle a wide range of temperatures?

This makes me want to move to somewhere warm and make an aviary like this! The most I'll be able to do is get some form of cute shelving and turn it into a big cage. Your birds are so pretty!

Yes we have lovely weather at the moment, its just coming into summer now. Our temp here ranges from 5 - 30 Degrees Celsius winter to summer. But because they live outside all year round they have no problem with the change in weather as it is normally gradual |

So to you, it feels right to have Christmas in the summer. Does it feel strange to have people singing about snow at Christmastime?

I'm orgianlly from NZ though =3
It's cool so cool, also in schhol I heard you guys have 1 loooooong break but we have 2 weeks off, 3months, 2weeks ect. until it gets to summer we have a long Christmas holiday =D

Blue, some of the schools in the US have gone to a trimesters system, but where my kids go to school, it's true that we have one long break during our summer months (your winter), and we also have 2 weeks off at Christmas and 1 week off during springtime. My kids will have 5 days off for Thanksgiving this week.

Yep feels totaly normal to go to the beach on Christmas :-) It doesn't even snow were we live so its a little weird growing up with every thing advertised as a white Christmast :-)
Our school year is split into four terms. All being 8-10 weeks long with 2 week holidays in between. Then a 6-8 week holiday over December, January for summer. So our school year is February to November.
Does it feel weird starting your school year in the middle of the year?

No, because that's the way it's been all my life. We call it the 2013-2014 school year. Most school systems do try to have semesters end right before Christmas and then start with a fresh semester when the kids go back in January.
