Hi all I have never bred any kind of bird before. But I want to start now. I have 6 budgies 3male 3 female all the males are above a year old. 2 females are also above a year old an the other on is 8 months old. I want to breed one of the two female that are in condition to breed. All the females/males are bonded, with a specific one. None of my males are in breeding condition. I have selected the pair that I want too breed and have put them in a breeding cage. I have been doing reshearch on breeding them.
My question is how do I get the male in breeding condition.

I am assuming the female in the pair you have chosen is over a year? It would not be safe otherwise.
To get your birds a bit more in the mood, make sure that they have several more hours of light than dark... I would only give them darkness for about ten hours a night. Also, you should provide some nest boxes. If you can give more than one, that is better. Also, a higher calorie, higher protein diet is called for. Feed your bird fresh foods like fruit and veg, and add in some things like hard boiled egg and bits of well cooked high quality meats.

Yes the female and male are both over a year old. The female is in breeding condition. But the male is not. The breeding cage they are in have a nestbox in. Cuttle bone mineral bloks fresh water fresh seed and pellet mix and also a fruit mix. There are also two perches in. Nothing else.

Alright, then give them long hours of day light and protein rich foods. This will get him into breeding condition and make her body more ready for creating the eggs.
