hello, I was wondering what certain human foods parakeets benefit from. Also I heard they can have peas in a can as long as it has no added salt is this true? And tuna that is in water??

There is a post that is on the top of the budgie/parakeet feeding and diet that gives you all fruit and veggies safe for budgies!

In essence, parrots can eat anything a human can eat excepting a few things that are toxic to them. No avacado, raw spinach or chocolate. The same goes for the parts of the plants: if there is a seed on a fruit you would not eat, do not allow it to get close to your birds. No apple cores, no fruit pits. Believe it or not, the seeds of many fruits have cyanide in them. Other than that, you can give you bird almost anything, but you need to use a little common sense. Fatty, salty, or super sugary things should be avoided, and things that can carry bacteria need to be prepared with safety and care - the same as you would do for yourself. Fresh fruits, vegetables, hardboiled eggs and well cooked high quality meats are on the menu. The more diverse the diet, the healthier the bird. Just remember that plant matter (fruits and veggies) should make up the bulk of the diet, at the very least half if not more.
