Hi I've looked all over but cannot seem to find anything similar. One of my budgies seems to have lost a number of feathers under his beak. He's still very active, will come eat from my hand, play with his toys and play around with the other budgies. It could be that he was involved in some fight with the others coz they were picking on each other a couple of weeks ago (completely changed the orientation of the perches etc in the cage and things have improved drastically). It's been more than 2 weeks when this happened. Any idea if it may be some illness rather than a small fight? I tried to take some pictures, but he isn't such a fan of cameras and won't stay still for a second I attached the best 3. I'd take him to a vet, but 1 I don't know of any avian vet here (Malta - Europe) and 2 I don't want to stress him out by trying to catch him to take him out of the cage if it may simply be that he lost the feathers in a fight to take him to a normal vet who will most probably not know that much either. Thanks a lot and well done for all your dedication on the forum!

From the rough pictures, my best guess is that it looks like an injury. But it is just that... only a guess.

good luck, if it gets any worse though (not the fighting the wound) then take him straight to the vet.

So I just got back from the vet. Took him in coz he seems to have 'tail bobbing' and I asked her to check out under his beak while I was there. He's got a lump but she said it seems superficial and didn't suggest that we take samples to check what it is exactly especially since his behaviour didn't change and he's as active as ever.
