Hi, I'm a new parakeet owner and recently acquired two birds. The light green is a male (confirmed by a vet) but I'm not sure if he is a dominant or clearflight pied and is he also a spangle? He is very brightly colored and has pink feet. The markings on his wings and head bars are actually an olive green (not grey or black) and I'm not sure the pictures show that. His cere is blue with a little pink and he was a rescue (he flew into someone's window and was taken to the local animal shelter). Because of his eye ring and missing bars, the vet feels he is a little over a year old.
The other is young, under four months according to the breeder who supplies the local pet store where he/she was purchased. I'm assuming he/she is a sky blue recessive pied. He/she has pink feet and his/her cere is sort of flesh colored with white rings around the nares. As far as behavior goes, this bird acts more like a she. She is bossy, more aggressive, doesn't sing as much and makes that aaaaaack noise (often for no discernible reason.) She is also bites occasionally. The yellow and green bird is much more mellow, sings all day long, and seems to be able to wolf whistle and softly say "pretty bird". They are just out of quarantine and have only been caged together for 3 days, but they are already a pair. They feed each other and the green bird sings to the sky blue. They both bob their heads at each other occasionally.
I tried to pick photos without using a flash and that give the best view of feathers and cere. Any confirmations on sex and colors? Thanks!
