I live in a pretty small house. I had one cage in the living room and one in the dining room, but no door separating them. Friday night the cats were taking a nap in the bedroom, with the door closed.
Emma started flying around, and next thing I knew she was on top of the budgie cage. The budgies came out and they all climbed around the outside of the budgie cage. Then, Emma went into the budgie cage and tried out all of their toys, sampled their food, and sat on both of their swings (where she looked pretty silly, as large as she is).
I managed to get her onto a basket and took her back to her own cage.
This morning, the cats were napping, so I opened the cages. Next thing I knew, Emma was back in the budgie cage. Then she flew back to her own cage, and the budgies followed her. They all climbed around the outside of the big cage, then went inside. They seem very happy with the arrangement.
I know it's a little early (I have only had Emma two weeks). However, it is a small house, and everyone seems very happy and healthy.

No, no fighting. They do posture over resources, just like the budgies do, but no actual fighting. If they do fight, I will separate them.

What a precious picture! It gave me a huge smile. I got such a kick out of your tale with Emma playing the role of Goldielocks - trying out the budgies' toys and sampling their food and cramming herself onto their too-small swings. Heehee!! So are you considering doing away with the smaller cage and letting Piper & Snowy move in with Emma?

I have removed the smaller cage. However, if there are problems, I will brig it back. Emma seems to want to be out of the cage a lot. I am wondering if the budgies are a bit much for her. On the other hand, it's nice that she's out, because I can interact with her more.

This is such a cute picture! Unfortunately Lucy and my two parakeets didn't really get along the first time I introduced them. So I'm waiting a few weeks before i do again. Bonnie always shows interest in Lucy, she tilts her head and looks at her but when there weren't bars separating the two, neither seemed too happy

Emma is so adorable! Would you say she's a pastel face? Does anybody know?

She looks like a normal gray female to me as of right now (since she's young, you never know)
Pastel faces tend to gave reaaaaaaaaaally subtle cheek patches because the color is so light.
