Well mainly my biggest hobby and passion is learning as much as I can about the warfare of World War 2. I say I have almost 200 books so far dealing with technology, battles, and first hand accounts. My biggest area of expertise is on the Eastern Front which was between Germany, Hungary, Finland and Romania vs Soviet Union. Another hobby I have is I paint 15mm miniatures for a tactical World War 2 wargame called flames of war. Attachments:

Wow, that's really something! Do you have grandparents or other relatives who served in the military during WWII? My maternal grandfather was in the Army Air Corps (infancy of current day Air Force), and my paternal grandpa was in the Army and my paternal grandma was in the Navy. My husband's grandpa was in the Army and was injured in Okinawa. I should specify that the four of them all served in the US armed forces. I am very proud of them all. My dad also served in the US Army, as have my husband and even myself!
Have you read a series of historical fiction books by Gerald N. Lund called "Children of the Promise"? It's a series of five books that follows a fictional family through the years of World War 2. Of course there are soldiers serving in Germany, one who participates in the Bataan Death March, one who jumps into Normandy, and a nurse serving during the happenings at Pearl Harbor, along with family and community issues on the home front. The series would likely be child's play for a serious student of the period, such as yourself, but I really enjoyed it.

My father served in a ordnance unit that went to Normandy five days after the ground troops invaded. Their task was to set up a supply depot in France.
I have a dittoed book of the history of their unit. They had great difficulty due to lack of supplies necessary to organize the supplies (bins, etc.) Also, it was freezing cold. Everyone survived until they traveled to Paris in a convoy and a vehicle skidded off the road going down a mountain road. Three men were killed.
My Dad's unit was trained in the southwest desert of the United States. I think the original intention may have been to send them to Africa. They did survival training in the desert--digging holes to camp in sort of stuff. However, subsequently they were sent to England, and stationed there for about a year. That's where my dad met my mother, who was fifteen years old.

Pammy, I love that series! It's actually a sequel series, I'll have to look it up to remember the series before, because I can't remember what it is right now.
sabaton, this looks really cool!

Bree, the first series is Children of the Promise, and the followup series is called Hearts of the Children. Both are enjoyable reads, but I prefer the first series that takes place during WWII. Have you read all the books? It's been several years since I read them.

Yeah, it's been a few years since I've read any of them. I keep intending to borrow them from my parents and read them again.
