Well, let's kick things off here under "Hobbies"! Something I really love to do is bake for my kids' high school band. Every year on Halloween, a few days before Christmas Break, and on our band director's birthday, I bake for our band. That's 85 kids and 2 directors. It's a HUMONGOUS undertaking, but makes me so happy, and my kids get cool points for showing up bearing goodies for all. I've actually had a band student say to me that he wished I were his mother (which is awfully sad, really), and lots of them tell my kids that they love me, and there is no shortage of hugs anytime I appear in the band room. Great reminder to my own kids of my awesomeness - yes, the same mother who makes them finish their homework before playing Xbox and do their chores before friends can come over (because of course they are the only kids in the world who have to do chores). So, being the day before Halloween, my kitchen is a flurry of sweetness. I can actually smell sugar in the air. I just pulled 24 orange cupcakes from the oven. Next up is chocolate! Later I will bake oodles of peanut butter chocolate chip m&m cookies, and yes, the m&ms will be the autumn colored ones. This is a happy day!

I love baking!!! I baked my first apple pie a week ago. Hand picked apples and made the dough and everything from scratch. It came out awesome! I'm a brownie master. Sure brownies are simple, but I do awesome twists because I'm a chocolate lover. I've also had my share of making some delicious cookies! My grandmother has a family recipe of our family's "pizzas" which are to die for - they're irresistible. Cooking and baking for others makes me so happy to know others enjoy my food

Pammy! On the day that I was baking pumpkin seeds, pumpkin cupcakes and a cake, my oven broke! Now finally someone should be coming to fix it tomorrow but I've been deprived of my baking as well! Next up is Thanksgiving and Christmas though so I'll make up for it haha! My in laws love my baking and remind my husband that he's lucky to have me

Oh my goodness! Why do these things always happen right at the holidays? I remember when I was a kid, our stereo would always give up the ghost right at Christmas, and there my dad would be trying to patch it back together so we could listen to Christmas music. Back then every member of the family didn't have their own iPod. We had one stereo and played (yes, it's true) vinyl records on it.
Yes, you'll have to make up for the missed baking during November and December! Ahhh, such fattening months!!
Lisa, I'm interested to hear more about these family "pizzas." I'm assuming they're really cookies?
My band Halloween offerings are all packed up and ready to take to the band room in the morning. Band is first hour.

The "pizzas" are really pizzas! It's just they're more like calzones than an actual pizza pie. They're so delicious... But it does require baking because of the dough!
My mom's oven always breaks before thanksgiving... I do some of my baking at my boyfriends house because his parents have a much bigger kitchen so it's easier!
we'll have to share recipes on here sometime!

Definitely! I've been thinking of making a scrapbook of recipes to give to Sophia when she's older and on her own! I would love to try the recipes and add them in if they are delicious

Ooh, I love baking! Should we start an off topic page just for baking recipes? I think it might be fun, and a great way to share. On the subject of Halloween baking, I'm off to make a white cake and strawberry sauce to make a gorey looking desert for a party this weekend

That would be super fun, Sarah! Although I wouldn't mind having one for supper dish recipes, too. I've managed to fall into a slump and keep fixing the same things for supper over and over again.

That's so great that you enjoy baking! I used to be a good cook and I baked. I don't have the energy for it any more, but I enjoy the fruits when others do.

Very nice! I also think we should make an Off Topic for baking and cooking. I like recipes that don't require super expensive ingredients or hard to come by ingredients.

I also appreciate the occasional really quick-fix meal that's super easy, but also very tasty.

Yeah! Like the ones that look like you put a LOT of effort into...but secretly it was way easy to prepare.
