Not really snow. It's ice, and it's treacherous out there. My kids will be home tomorrow, and even my husband is going to remote in and work from home. I would feel complete peace if only I didn't have to go to Dallas early Saturday morning. We are expecting more ice all the way until Monday. My sister sent airline tickets for Natey and me to fly to Nashville on Saturday to visit her for a few days. I want to see my sister, but I am terrified of having to get to Dallas, which is two hours away on clear roads. I WANT TO STAY HOME, but how can I tell my sister to cancel the flights? Won't that cost money? I'm afraid. And my baby will be in it, too. I wish I weren't in this situation.

My parents are in Dallas and my mom took a vacation day today and then got called and told that the company is closed today. I was like, hahahaha sucker! I live in San Antonio and everyone at my work were like 'we were so worried about you driving in this weather' ...... I grew up in Utah where inclement weather means 10 feet of snow. So I was sitting here like 'what weather?'

I get what you're saying, Bree. I'm from northern Michigan. Sometimes the school closings for a powdered sugar dusting of snow down here are silly, but this time we really did get hit with ice and things are BAD out there. Everything is closed. Everyone is home. We're supposed to be in single digits tonight, and for people who were sweating it out over 100 degrees less than 3 months ago, it's COLD.

We here are due for a rain/ice/snow storm Sunday. I have a Santa Job at 12 then have to teach from 3:30 till 9:00. I am hoping for the rain and not the snow.Where I live it can be snowing 10 miles away and nothing here, or vise a versa

Yes bad weather for the northeast coast this Sunday - and I have finals next week! Pammy, what if you just suggestively say "The roads are supposed to be awful... I hear traveling and commuting are going to be difficult..." hinting to the fact you do not think it's a good idea? I'm not sure about flight cancellations. I don't travel often, and when I do it is for free (my best friend's parents work for the airports )

Lisa, my brother-in-law ended up deciding that it wasn't safe, and made the command decision to postpone my visit. I'm safe at home. He flies for work often enough that the airlines work well with him, and he didn't lost his points or have to lose any money. I'm going to visit my sister in January or February instead.

Cross your fingers for snow tonight here in Missouri! My boss has already let me know it may not be safe to go to work tomorrow XD I hear we are only getting 1-2 inches so it's kind of silly to me! Minnesota got 10 inches where my mom lives!

Emily, it does seem silly to us northern people, but we have to remember that people down here aren't used to it, and even just a tiny slip while driving feels terrifying to them. Also, they don't have the salt trucks and snow removal gear northerners have, so they have to sit back and wait for the sun to melt it. Where I live, the sun came out for a short time yesterday, and melted things just enough for it to get all smooth and then it froze hard again. Today it was so cold that no melting happened. Roads are now literally just like ice skating rinks. Everybody is pretty much supposed to stay home. Wondering what tomorrow will bring.

We had wintry mix here today and I had to cancel my teaching Job for tonight. Money lost, but better then pay deductible on car after a wreck in the ice, less stress also.

Quite a bit of melting here today, but the streets are still ice covered, and now the sun is on its way down. Everything will refreeze. Very curious about what the school board will decide....
