Misting your budgies is a good idea. You could also try different kinds of containers for the bath water. I got my budgies when they were three months old. They would not bathe. Then, one day they did. I think it was almost two months later. Sometimes it just takes time.

Ava, parrots do not strictly need to bathe on a regular basis. They groom themselves every day, removing any mess and dead bits of skin from their feathers and bodies. They also use special glands to coat each feather in a protective and cleansing layer of natural oil. If your birds do not want a bath, that's okay. Bathing is more of an enrichment activity than a necessity for pet birds.
If you really do want to see them bathe sometime, why don't you try putting some lettuce leaves in the bottom of the bowl? It is more natural for these small desert parrots to rub themselves down with dew from leaves then to leap into a bath.

At a time that they are not likely to get chilled afterwards--when there are no drafts and when they are active.

Like Diana, it took my budgies months to even look at their birdie bath. My budgies haven't had a huge molt, but they have had two mini molts since I got the in August. They are in the second mini molt now. They seem to really like to take baths when they are molting, and don't really use it at all when they aren't molting.

In the cage? Or outside cage? Mango is molting and she is so uncomfortable! I feel bad as she s a single bird and doesnt have a partner to help he get the pricklys off of her head. She is not comfortable with me doing it! I have tried!

You could try a small cereal bowl. Mine use a Pyrex loaf pan. If you look on Youtube for budgie bathing you may get some ideas, and see some cute videos at the same time.

MangosMama, my birdie bath hangs outside one of the tiny doors in the side of my cage. I have the little door tied open, so my budgies can go out the door and directly into the birdie bath. They use it lots when they are molting, and ignore it when they are not molting. I am curious to find out whether my baby cockatiel will use it more often. He will be coming home next month. Ahh! Clausy is stepping into the bath this very moment! They look insanely, unbelievably cute taking a bath. I forgot to say that I got my birdie bath on Amazon. You may see it pictured as a blue plastic bath, but the one they sent me is yellow.
