The crop is an organ on a parrot's throat the holds food inside of it. Think of it sort of like a hamster's cheek. The digestive process does not really start in the crop - its a holding pouch. This food can be regurgitated to a mate or offspring (they don't actually vomit into each other's mouths)or pass down the bird's digestive tract into the stomach. Infections of the crop are sadly commonplace, caused by a food getting caught and remaining there too long, scrapes inside the crop from a sharp edge of food or just a plain old infection from contaminated food.

Isnt that also called sour crop....where food is left in to long?
