I bought these as a male/female pair but have noticed a lighter shade around the blue cereal of my solid yellow budgie. I think I already know answer but do I have two females.

The one on the right looks like a pretty girl to me.

Yes she is a pretty girl but she was supposed to be a boy according to the people I purchased them from a few days ago. Its fine though cause didn't purchase to breed. Just to enjoy. There wasn't much light in the room when I picked them up so I thought she was a boy too. Lol.

Yep, two girlies. I understand your feelings, because when I adopted my two boys, their previous family told me they were a boy-girl pair. I was surprised to post pictures here and be told they were definitely both boys.

Yeah I wish sexing was as easy as with my cocktiels. I have three other budgies. Two females and a male. I also have two lovies but not sure of there sex either but they are still young probably six months old. I will sort out their sexes later. They are vey happy being together right now with few squabbles.

So you have 4 budgies altogether? Three females and a male?

Total of five budgies 4 girls and a boy. Two girls and a boy in one cage and the two girls in another. Would like to get them all together in the same cage if I can find one big enough. Otherwise I will keep them as they are now. All are really happy together with the cages next to each other.

I will be very interested to hear about the dynamics of your flock as time goes on. Are they all very young birds right now?

Lovies are 6 months old and budgies are supposed to be at a year or just over. Tiels are close to two years old or at least I was told. The breeder where I got lovies called me and told me she had a pair of tiels. Truthfully I think she buys or takes unwanted parrots from Craigslist then sells them and cages. I guess I shouldn't complain cuz I couldn't be happier with them. Once a week she is calling with new birds. If I had the space or money I would take them all. My flock seems happy being near to each other but only one set out at a time. My lovies are good together but can seem aggressive when I am spending time paying attention to rest of the little ones.

Hmm, that's all very interesting.
There is a couple in my area whom I don't know, but they are on the town yardsale FB page, and they constantly are listing all kinds of animals from pot-bellied pigs to cockatiels. I've wondered how they came to have soooo many animals, and always looking for new homes for them (for a price). I'm thinking they must do the same thing -- that is, take animals that people are giving away free and then attempting to sell them. I think it's shameful. But yeah, like you said, if it weren't for that woman you met, you wouldn't have your sweet babies now.
