She investigated my arm, then shoulder today...and decided that its rather fun to chirp as loudly as she can into my ear and pull my hair. Rude! LOL
She looks a bit maniacal...(excuse my face, didn't look my best today xD)
"what IS this brown stuff? Its not feathers.."
"where does it even come out of?!"
"this thing is odd."
statue bird!
she loves my nails and keeps trying to take the glitter and jewels off of them o.o can you see where she succeeded?

This is off topic, but what's the quote on your wall about humility say?
Awesome pictures by the way!

Those first two pictures you posted at the top of this page, she looks like she's snickering about something. About to get into trouble or something.

I can't thank you all enough for your help! I wish I'd found this place earlier. I'm glad she can have a happy life now though, it makes me feel so much better knowing that she is enjoying herself! Bree- LOL, she probably was! She is the more ornery little thing I swear. Right after those pictures she pulled my hair. She's opinionated too... very obviously knows 'step up' now but will only step up onto a certain part of my hand (so that she can play with my ring) and she just loves to cause trouble. Her favorite thing is probably to cackle (she literally does cackle...it sounds evil!) and come flying off of the top of her cage towards my head, get about 2 inches from my face, and swoop up to go back onto her cage. It scares the crud out of me (I'm just sure she wants to poke my eyes out) but you can tell she thinks its funny. She also keeps trying to 'steal' my colorful pens that I use for homework notes by hopping over and trying to roll them away. Who knew such an old lady would have this much energy? Oh, and she has fallen in love with strawberries. I had a hard time convincing her to try them but now? Ohhh my goodness. Emily- the quote is by C.S Lewis. It says "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but rather thinking of yourself less." I made it myself over the summer! Love C.S Lewis. Boo keeps taking all of the "T"s down though and dropping them on my bet. Little bugger!

It's so encouraging to read your posts! At times I get very discouraged that I'll one day be able to tame my little ones, but reading Boo's progress is extremely encouraging!

What an amazing quote by C. S. Lewis, and so very true.

Don't give up Kmic! After all, Boo has hated me for SIX YEARS! I had begun to loose hope to be honest. But then one little change started a chain of events...and now, while I can't say she likes me, she's definitely much happier and doesn't appear to be afraid of my at all any more. I have so much fun watching her!
Pammy, yes- it makes me think every morning and put the right attitude on before I start my day!

I knew you guys had good taste! haha. I've read just about every Lewis book I can get my hands on. He's such a wonderful, wise writer. I have another question regarding...poop! I love letting Boo out and she enjoys it immensely. She is out for a good 3-4 hours a day right now (will change when classes start again on Monday, but she'll be out at least an hour or two) flying, dancing to music, and making a nuisance of herself. But...she poops everywhere. Any place she perches (there are many places. Door frames, my lights, on top of the fan, the windowsill, her cage, the dresser, my bedpost) she poops. Its starting to get rather tedious to go poop-hunting every time she is out. This probably sounds ridiculous, but is there a way to...I don't know, potty train her to poop in one area? Probably not, but I figured I'd ask. I've also been studying up on budgies, reading about their genetics, etc., and ohhh my goodness. I'm drooling over the Lutinos and creaminos. That's my next bird color I really wish Boo liked other birds, I could get one now. But alas, she doesn't- so I'll wait and love my little crabby girl until then. When it is time to get new ones though, I'm thinking two males. I might keep them separate at first though until they're semi-tame since that's supposed to be easier, then introduce them and hope they get along. I think I'd have to get a creamino somewhere besides petsmart/co though, since I've never seen one before. Bird color mutations are so interesting! I could look at them for hours...they're so unique. Very much unlike horses, which are my other passion. With horses you have a base coat, then dilutes, varnishes, or paints, then white markings, but nothing like what is available with birds.

It is possible to potty train a bird. But it is very hard, and comes with some repercussions. I don't really have the time to get into it... but I really don't suggest it with budgies. Their droppings are small and hard, and easy to clean up. Just keep a stock of wet wipes in your room and clean up every few days.
