Never heard of anyone potty training a budgie, but we can see what others say.

I actually read about someone who potty trained her budgie, but yeah as sarah said, it's not so good for the bird. I really understand you, but apparently what happens is they might end up pooping only on your signal (from what i read ; coz the way to train them is to anticipate when they re gonna poop, take them wherever, give them a key word and then a treat to show them they did it right kind of, so apparently what might happen is that when they re out, they wont do what they have to do unless you give them permission, which is obviously risky for their health)
Re getting another budgie, correct me if I'm wrong, but hadn't you introduced one before boo became so much less agressive? I mean she's now very different to how she was back then, wouldn't willingly spend so much time out of her cage etc.. Could it be that her attitude towards another budgie has changed as well? Just wondering...

The budgie poops don't bother me, as they are so little and compact. Of course I clean them up when I see them. However, Mistletoe's poops are really quite obnoxious. He literally poops every few minutes, not every 30 minutes like his breeder's husband told me. And his are messy. When I hold him, he poops on me several times in just a short while, necessitating a shirt change. Will his pooping stretch closer to 30-minute intervals when he matures?
And Santa, I love your great new profile picture! Is that your Lucy with you?

Thank you for explaining that for me KMC, that is exactly right Also, Pammy. Yes, Mistletoe's poo production will slow down. He is just like a human baby right now. Eating a whole lot, and pooing a whole lot. Its a truth of growth. Pirate goes something like once every half hour, and his poos are much more solid then when he was younger most of the time. I keep a rag on hand at all times, and can sometimes manage to catch it before it happens. Like many parrots, he makes a bit of a production of it. If he is standing on a flat surface he takes a few steps back. If he is perching, he squats. It gives me a moment to react. If I don't catch it in time, that's what the wipes are for XD

My parents' quaker parrot pushes his butt up against the wall so he won't poop in his cage.

Oh o.o yeah, that definitely wouldn't be good! Wipes it is!
Yes, it was a long time ago when I tried to introduce a friend. I'd be willing to try again, but I'm really worried about what would happen if she DIDN'T like the other bird. I really don't want (or have space for) two cages. I'd also need to find an old bird I guess, not a petstore bird.
Have I mentioned how awesome she is though? She is now sitting on my shoulder while I'm on the computer, which gives her much more outside time since its in another room. Poor gal got spooked yesterday though, flew, and hit the wall o.o she seems ok, but OUCH!

I'm so happy for you and Boo. Her turnaround has been amazing. She must be wondering where this wonderful life has always been. I wondered whether baby poops could be more intense and frequent than adult cockatiel poops, but was afraid to hope. I'm so glad to hear it., Sarah. I adore babies and want Mistletoe to stay a baby for as long as possible, but less frequent messes will be a definite perk of maturity, when the time comes.

Emma doesn't seem to poop very much. She has never pooped on me. Maybe it's just because she is not on me very much. However, she loves to stand on my computer monitor and poop on the screen.

Hi Boobaby, What amazing progress, well done. She may enjoy a perch on either side of cage, so she can fly across and a dangly "raggy toy", I think they are called something like "boredom breakers". My girl loves hers, it hangs from top of cage, and she can climb and chew on it. I'll try and upload pic !
