I agree with Lisa on needing to know gender. I just couldn't keep calling my baby "it." I just have to know. Mistletoe's DNA test was $20, though. Much more reasonable.

Well, it becomes easy to know the gender of a tiel as it grows up. The question is waiting for a few months lol.

So i looked online and found an awesome breeder/petstore that has a beautiful young whiteface pied cockatiel and she would do the DNA for $20. In total, the bird would be $65 dollars cheaper w her than at my local place. It's about an hour and a half away or maybe 2 hours but me and my boyfriend may make a short road trip to go check it out!

Adorable! But yeah, the crest is completely hidden. He must be laying it all the way back. I think I read somewhere that whiteface babies and females have gray faces and only the males have true white faces. If that is true, then this must be a boy, right?

I don't know if that whiteface theory applies to it because this is pied. I'll have to ask for a few more pictures so i can see the crest. But by her description, it says this bird is a whistler so maybe it is a little boy!  |
