First morning, the poor little thing is clearly stressed. Thin body, crest sticking straight up. She will willingly go on my finger, intently listen to me talk. She sat on my shoulder as I read but was frightened and flew away when I got up to walk. Right now she is perched on the top of the cage and looking relaxed. Even though she is 3 she seems so young, like a baby in comparison to sweetie pie. She seems more alert and expressive
I don't read bird behavior very well. Anything I should be aware of concerning the two living together? Jealousy on sweeties part? When I went to the cage yesterday they both did that 1leg 1 wing stretch, that is a promising sign isn't it. There has been no hissing or what appears to be aggressive behavior. Like I said, the breeder was very confident that there will be no issues. They both are so darn sweet. Even when I was holding her to have her wings clipped she did not bite down hard on me. She seems to fly fine so clearly we did not clip enough off.
Right now I am going to leave Pearl on the cage top while Sweetie and I continue on with our morning routine of showering and getting dressed.

Aww. Moving homes can be rough on a bird at the best of times. I'm glad to hear she seems to be relaxing, though. Keep us posted!

Oh my goodness, I am spending the most interesting bird afternoon. I have a side bookkeeping job that I do from home, so that is what I have been doing today. The playpen top and front door of Sweetie and Pearl's cage are open. Shortly after I started working Sweetie flew to my shoulder. Quiet awhile later Pearl came over. Okay, it has been a bit slow going with two birds walking across my keyboard. Right now Pearl is on my hand and wishing I would hold it still. After a couple hours of playing on my shoulder, playing with my earrings and chain necklace they both settled in to preen themselves, on my forearms. I had to nudge Pearl onto my shoulder and boy did she give me hell for that. She never pressed her beak down on me but mouthed my finger and scolded me. Sorry Diana, I know how hard you work with Emma. The "girls" have been on me so I have a first hand look at how they are getting along. Just once Sweetie scolded at Pearl. They both were on my chest at the time. As Pearl hightailed it back to my shoulder Sweetie grabbed her tail. What an entertaining couple of birdies. When I was walking through the house Pearl flew off my shoulder. It took sometime to find her. When I did I took a little video. How do you download a video? Is it the same as a picture, through photo bucket?

Update on my girls. This evening when I got home I took the veggie bowls out leaving just one bowl of seed. They were able to share the one bowl with no issues. When I came with the new bowl of fresh seed they both wanted it. What I learned was that my 15 year old is not nearly as agile as pearl. Pearl hops from perch to perch and moves around the cage with ease. Sweetie is much slower and does not jump.

Tell Sweetie that I don't jump either. I'm not old, but my knees have seen younger days.

Ha ha, as I wrote my post about sweetie not being as agile as pearl I was thinking that I am not so agile either.

I am usually so busy I haven't had, or taken, the opportunity to just observe, which is what I have been doing this morning. So what just happened, that I found so funny. 1st off I have dogs, as I have mentioned before. One is too interested in the birds so I put him out. One is old and a gentle soul that small animals gravitate to. The last is a poodle that, well because they are prey animals, could pose a threat to a bird that flew by or landed in front of him. Because of that whenever a bird flies by or lands on the floor I tell him to leave it and he gets a treat. Just now I am eating chicken noodle soup in front of the TV, Sweetie is on my shoulder, and swish flies by Pearl. She has a few clipped wings so her flight is uncoordinated. "leave it", I give Charley, the poodle, a bit of chicken. Swoosh again. Charley ignores Pearl and I dig in my soup to give him another piece of chicken. Then is when I notice that everytime I feed a dog Sweetie leans way far towards my finger hoping that treat is for her. Just had to share, it cracked me up. I gave her a carrot, she spit it out. She prefers noodles.
