Does your cockatiel hiss when you cover it at night?

Lucy never hissed while cobering her. Recently i have stopped covering her altogether - i've always read mixed reviews about it so I just stopped it since the heater i bought is next to her cage. This way i know she can't get cold

I have never heard Mistletoe hiss. My budgies take the night-night covering pretty well. By then, they are really tired. Mistletoe is less excited about going to bed because his most cuddly time is the last few hours before bed, and he's in full mommy-time mode. When it's bedtime, I put him into his cage, and he races back and forth, begging me to get him back out for more cuddling, but he doesn't hiss or do anything mean. I go ahead and cover them, and they are all stone silent until morning.

This has been happening with Emma since she has been separated from the budgies. Last night, I think she hissed for a full minute after i put her cover on.

I do think she's upset that I have taken Piper away.
I have been reading and trying to find information. I've been trying the longer nights. Some seem to think that longer nights will prevent egg laying, but the birds may still be behave sexually. I had them all out for a little while this afternoon, and Piper started humping Emma again. She seems to like it. Snowy is completely uninvolved. Piper went back into his cage, so I closed the door. Snowy and Emma are out right now. When they are out, all three of them fly around the living room like crazy sometimes. It's so funny, because thee budgies were unable to fly much for so long.

I don't think a baby boy cockatiel is likely to stop the issue between Piper & Emma. I'm thinking it would be better to bring in girl budgies to distract Piper before even thinking about getting a second cockatiel.

I was kidding hehe but yes i think it would be beneficial to get a female budgie. It would distract piper since he seems to be the instigator

Lisa, I thought maybe you were kidding, but I wasn't sure. I highly recommend baby boy cockatiels!! Just don't think that's the right path for Diana at this exact moment.

sweetie use to hiss when I took off the cover in the morning. Now I do a lot of talking so as not to surprise her. Emma's hissing is odd, doesn't that mean fear or anger? Maybe she doesn't like being all by herself. Seriously Diana the reason flock birds can become interactive pets is that flock mentality. If she doesn't get birds companions she will have to make you her friend or have no friends at all. The poor little thing. It must be hard on both of you.

it IS kind of hard. When i see Piper and Emma together, I hate to separate them. They are obviously both enjoying the relationship. I left them in the same cage last night, and they slept on the same perch. I want Emma to love ME, but not by taking things away from her : (.

Us humans can be so odd yet lovably about our pets. I am having the same experience with tough love trying to make Sweetie eat a healthy diet. I am surrendering too. I will offer the healthy stuff and limit the high in fat seed mixes but I am not going to make her go without seeds in the hope to starve her into eating broccoli.
