My sister brought home an adorable mix from the pound a few weeks after Christmas, and ever since we have been trying to identify his breed. His papers say that he is a 'Zuchon...' that is a Shih Zu Bichon Frise mix. Trouble is he is several inches too tall and about ten pounds too heavy to be that... he weighs 28 pounds and is healthy according to our vet. Also according to our vet, his crazy curly silky hair is 100% bichon, he said that is definitely in there.
I've been through dozens of different breeds that have a similar appearance to Bentley (the doggie in question) but all the breeds are too small and too short to be him. This evening, I arrived at the conclusion that he might be possibly maybe a Cockachon... and no that's not a weird swear or a sneeze, its a Bichon/Cocker spaniel, which has roughly the right look and the right height and weight. Anyway, because you are so in to this, I thought you might like to tell me I'm wrong
This is Bentley the day we brought him home. His hair was long, but he had been neglected for some time, and much of it was matted with awful uck. The vet suggested a shave to get rid of his rampant mats, which were starting to hurt his skin. This is was not the fault of the animal shelter: he was there less than three complete days, and while they ordered in a professional groomer, we took him home before she could get there. He'll look like this when his coat grows back in a few months though.
Here are some pictures of post shave Bentley in his first few weeks at home:
(Pouting immediately after coming home from the groomer)
(Relaxing on his giant doggie pillow on the sofa)
(Snuggletimes)
Anyway, let me know if you have thoughts!
