Noel's flight feathers have grown back in and she is now fully flighted like Kringle & Clausy. The three of them take regular spins around the room throughout the day, singly or together. It's truly a beautiful sight when all three make a big circle around our main living area together. They just did it a little while ago, and Natey exclaimed, "Mama, did you see dat?! Dat was sooo cooool!" I did, and it was.
Our little December, however, has no flight at all. Still. No improvement, no change. She crashes with a thump to the bottom of the cage multiple times each day, although I do think those loud thumps are becoming less frequent as she matures and is learning to deal with her disability. She exercises her tiny wings everyday by flapping them furiously. I'm sure that's good for her, and improves her balance, if nothing else. I'm happy every time I see her or hear her doing it. She jumps from the cage and scampers around on the carpeted floor, and knows right where her little handicap ladder is so she can get back in the cage. She's a happy little thing. She plays with toys and chews the kabob and has a relationship with each of the other three budgies AND NATEY, and is very loved by Kringle AND NATEY. But she can't fly, at all. Not even the funny hoppy little flights Noel would attempt while clipped. Do you suppose she was permanently injured when the idiot at the pet store or the birdie mill before that carelessly clipped her way too short, or do you think a full molt will bring a return of the feathers December was born to have?
