Hi Guys ! I have been using a small pop up tent for training/ taming my female Zeb. And what fantastic progress we have made ! She would step up in cage for a millet treat, but no millet, no step up ! However after taking her into tent she has become super friendly, (have not clipped her yet, wanted to get her happy being handled first). She now jumps on my hand as soon as i go into cage and preens my thumb and fingers, but most cool of all.... She wants me to tickle her head and cheeks ! I must admit there were times when I thiught id never tame her, but by working within her comfort zone she has grown to trust me so much. I can even restrain her and open her wings now, so will be clipping her wings this weekend so she can have proper out of cage time. Im so pleased with how she has gone from a timid little bird to one who is happy to see me and interact confidently. Also, we have just got a little companion for her..... But I'll start another thread about that !

Hi Lovsanimals2, My original plan was not to clip at all, but when she did come out it was really scary seeing her flying almost into walls etc. So I have decided to clip her just once, a light clip so she can still fly but not go as high and she can get used to being in room and learn to manouvre safely, then let feathers grow back so she has full flight.

Thank you for sharing your success! I think this is good information for anyone who is having difficulty taming a bird.

Hi Guys, Always happy to share any info, though you guys have all got more experience being budgie mums than me !! So, I intend to do a light clip today, so that she can get used to being out of cage ,while working on other one, ehich wont take long ! Hopefully then in 3-4weeks they can meet up in the room together and get aquainted !!
