Whenever I eat, she will always come fly over to my head. No matter what I'm eating. I usually don't share because I eat very unhealthy foods but I figured just one bite of a chip after a week without treats is ok

Funny. Did she only get one bite? You must have gotten crumbs in your curls. My Sweetie Pie is a messy eater

This is very cute and very sweet, and I give my birds little tasty tidbits all the time... However! You must never, ever give your bird a piece of food you have bitten into. Human saliva is a toxic cocktail of bacteria and viruses that might be harmless to us, but can cause infection, sepsis, shock and death to a bird!

Cute video! Roxhum, Mistletoe is also a terribly messy eater, and I immediately thought the same as you about chip crumbs in Lisa's hair. Sarah! What you said terrifies me!! I just let Mistletoe have some bites of my oatmeal cookie last night. We both ate it together. Now he could DIE!!!!! ?? I thought you said you eat with Pirate off the same plate all the time, and that he's even landed in your milky bowl of Cheerios. Now, I don't want a bird in my cereal bowl, but nibbling a dry cookie together was fun. Now I can't ever do that again.

I break off corners of things for Pirate, give him pieces or let him take things off my plate... although the cereal thing wasn't me. I don't eat cereal at all. Pirate does like to steal noddles out of my bowl when I make pasta though. I don't take a bite out of something and then give him the piece that touched my lips or teeth.
I am sorry if I didn't communicate this clearly before. I am sure mistletoe will be just fine, but in future when you share with him, don't give him any part of your food that has touched your mouth. If anything were going to happen it would have by now.

Oops! Well she survived. But I do give her pieces I've bitten usually. I guess I won't anymore. There's the people on YouTube who let birds eat out of their mouths... Ew but it is out there!

Gross! Both in the way that it is dangerous and the way that it is just yicky. :/

Ahh yes, it must have been noodles, not Cheerios. Well, now I know. I will adjust the way we share so my baby will be safe. It will be a little hard though, because he wants absolutely everything I have, including food, drinks in a cup (which I have not shared, but he's begged for), my iPad, Riggy, and most of all, my knitting! ?

Pammy, next time you knit, toss him a q-tip. I give one to Lucy before I start typing on my laptop, so she won't eat the keys! They keep her entertained for a while! No matter what I eat though she always flys over to my head to check things out. Since she's only allowed a single bite or two, I never get crumbs in my hair from her. She's a messy eater though otherwise (definitely!)

My little Natey runs for a Q-tip every time he sees Mistletoe grabbing at my stuff. He's such a good little helper, and it's so sweet to see him (Natey) offer Mistletoe the Q-tip. Mistletoe will play with it for a while, but then he always wants that oh-so-desireable knitting! I've started allowing him to play with the yarn I have pulled from the skein, but have not yet reached with my knitting. He really likes that. He gets himself all tangled up in it, and I have to untangle him, especially his funny little toes. He hasn't chomped thru a length of yarn yet, and I hope he doesn't. Who enjoys having to weave in extra ends? Not me.
