I wouldn't call it a "collection" but I do keep the pretty ones sometimes

I keep the long ones. It just seems such a shame to throw them out. And, Emma likes to play with them. Anytime I want to interact with her, I can go over with a tailfeather and she'll take it fom me and and play with it for a while. An organic substitute for a Q-tip.

This thread tickles my funny bone. It just rings so true that it's a shame to throw the pretty ones out - and that they are all pretty. Mistletoe dropped a pretty little gray feather the other day. His are so much bigger than budgie feathers. I picked it up and oohed and aahed over its beauty and thought about what a shame it is to vacuum it up. Noel's feathers are the hardest to let go, for me. Hers are the loveliest lime green color, and almost shimmery. I can be such a pack rat (because I'm an overly sentimental person), so I've had to FORCE myself to mercilessly not keep any feathers. None. If I keep the first one, I'll soon have a box full of them.

I had a couple of kids from church come over aawhile ago and collect all the flight and tail feathers in my aviary. They made awesome drawings of birds and glued the feathers to there drawings. There pictures look amazing :-)

That's a great idea, Lisa. I have multiple old glass bird ornaments who've long since lost their tail feathers. I'm sensing a recycle of feathers coming.

Never did this, but a thought:
But the clear glass ball ornaments and put done of one birds' feathers in it, use paint to write the name of the bird? Will try this next year

I've been considering a dream catcher. I've always believed in them in a very corny childish way, and I'd imagine using feathers from birds you love and who love you has to help, right?
I love love love love the glass ornament idea though!
