My second day with No Name Yet. What a difference from Emma! When he sees my hand coming, he lifts one foot up before I even get there! He definitely knows the "step up" command, which I have used in transferring him from one hand to the other. He is very calm. He will sit happily on my finger for quite a while. He has a very cute way of tilting his head to one side when he looks at me. So far, he's very quiet. I hear the flock call once in a while, and it is distinguishable from Emma's. I'm not sure what the difference is---it's subtle. I am considering calling him Smoky or Gandalf. His chest feathers certainly look smoky gray, and Gandalf was Gandalf the Gray. Or, maybe Dusty.

I have him/her quarantined right now. I don't have it set in my mind how long. I think the quarantine is a good idea, but even more, I want this birdie to bond with me first. So, we'll see (that's what my father always used to say when he didn't want to commit on something-- "we'll see.") I certainly have not given up on taming Emma. I think a tame cockatiel may encourage her to come around more. I also think, when they meet, Emma may start to realize that she's not a budgie. We'll see . . . By the way, I think this one's head feathers look much more like Lucy's than like Emma's.

I like smokey too. I am so happy for you.
The woman that was selling the 6 month old cockatiel that I didn't get had an older cockatiel that wasn't very tame. She said after she got her hand fed baby the other cockatiel did get friendlier/tamer

Beautiful bird! I am very happy for you that you have the cuddly companion you have wanted at last I think Emma will see that he trusts you, and it will help her to build trust in you too.
