I realized after I posted, I should have put "Leo and Lucy" instead of "them" I re-read it after I posted it and realized I didn't speak of Leo at all in that post. My mistake! Oops!

She probably won't be here until my sister's birthday in may. She did meet Lucy on christmas though. However, Lucy was being antsy due to all the commotion so i could only quickly bring her downstairs, then had to bring her right back up But anyway, I think I've calmed myself down and I am looking forward to Leo coming home this week

Has some of your snow melted off?

Nope, snow is still piled up 6 ft high. My aunt took a picture of a 6-ft tree she has, and the snow covers the whole thing so that just the tip is above the snow. I love it. It's just dangerous while driving because you can never see what is coming, and it makes roads more narrow

There is a huge amount of snow where I live too. The piles along the sides of the roads are so high it is impairing visibility. The snow is piled so high around my front and rear decks that it is almost impossible to shovel them any more, because there's no place to put the snow. I have spent SO much on snow removal! I have twice had to have the snow shoveled off the roof of my house because I was worried about all that weight.
It's been a hard winter. But, I always remind myself how much I have to be grateful for.

I can't shovel because of my back so I don't really ever fuss about the snow but I'm getting cabin fever lol

All this talk about snow makes me wonder whether I should keep envying you that you get snow (we never get any here so I was really glad when it snowed a bit while I was abroad) or else I should tease you by sending you a picture of the bright blue sky we've been enjoying this week Regarding them losing their bond, I only have budgies and they've always been together and not what I'd say particularly tame, but now that they're getting to come out of the cage, the tamest one (Tequila) will come onto my hand and stay there for quite a while even though he can freely fly near the others. Since yours will be able to get out of the cage while you're there, I'm thinking they'll still interact with you while they can and enjoy each other when you're not there.

Kmic, it's exciting to hear that Tequila will sit on your hand now! So are the all enjoying out-of-cage time?

Thanks Pammy. Well I've taken them to their room everyday, but they've only really spent the first day out of their cage. Once they found out that they can go back to their cage whenever they want, they'd much rather stay inside or on the 'porch' or maybeeeee climb around the cage from outside. If something startles them they'll end up flying about, but I rarely consider it a voluntary flight. But when Tequila comes out (only three times so far), I try by best to get him on my hand. The others will generally just fly off as I approach. But they were never that tame to begin with (only come to eat treats, which isn't always working now either).
Sorry I hijacked your thread. What I meant was that my best times are when Tequila is out of the cage, so hopefully both Lucy and Leo will at least be ok bonding with you when not in the cage together.

Kmic, this is normal behavior, or at least it is in my experience. In the beginning, I naturally assumed an open birdcage meant birds happily flying around in their limited freedom. Reality is that while my cage doors stand wide open all day long, everyday, my budgies spend almost all of their time in or on top of their flight cage. That's their home, and they love it. They do happily fly all around our main living area multiple times everyday, but those are just short bursts of energy or exercise, followed by more hours just hanging out in or on top of the cage. Mistletoe, on the other hand, will stay at the cage for short amounts of time, but he really wants to be with me, and after a while, he will jump to the floor and scurry over to where I am. If I don't immediately stoop over and pick him up, he simply climbs up my leg.
