I would LOVE to see a bald eagle in the wild. I see turkey vultures and hawks a lot. I don't even know what states bald eagles are found in! I see snow owls sometimes too, those are cool

What a great bird bath! Thanks for posting. There are bald eagles (and osprey) in Massachusetts as well.
I had the privilege of seeing bald eagles fairly up close while on a canoeing trip in Alaska with my husband many, many years ago. I was surprised to see how big they actually are - their wingspan is 6' across. We saw them a few times when we were paddling down little waterways. I have a photo of a male eagle sitting at the top of a evergreen and the weight of the eagle made the top of the tree bend over like one in a cartoon.
My osprey encounter was an memorable one. While at the local lake with a friend one summer, we were watching our kids playing in the water. Then we saw something dive bomb between the kids and make a huge splash and come up. Everyone stopped and said "what was that?!?" We realized it was a bird of prey and it sat calmly above us in a tree eating the fish it caught. I happen to be a bird watcher so I looked in one of my bird books and figured out it was an osprey. But believe me, that bird had amazing accuracy as it wasn't more than a few feet from clusters of kids all around.

Santa, funny you posted that camera link because I actually came across it on Facebook. It was very interesting and cute. The only time I have seen a bald eagle (that I can recall) was in the Hershey park zoo.. In Hershey park. It was devastating. The size of their habitat was not much bigger than most people aviaries. It was very very tall but we know by owning pet birds truly how much room a bird needs to be happy. If anyone ever goes to Hershey park go to the zoo.. Should be shut down in my opinion. On the other hand, the Bronx zoo is absolutely beautiful and I think their animals are properly cared for.

I have mixed feelings about visiting zoos. I do enjoy going to the zoo and spending a happy day together with my family. I also love getting to see so many gorgeous animals up close and personal, in a way I would never get to otherwise. But -- there's always the sadness associated with animals in captivity, especially those who were born free.
