Hi folks,
Credo continues to improve in trying new things! We began to include a celery top, carrot, and apple in her cage. Since she has loved to "tear up" the wood on her perches, we thought she might enjoy working on a chunk of carrot and boy did she ever. It ended up leaving her feathers next to her beak all orange. She is not sure about the apple, but she enjoys playing with the celery top. She will throw the celery out of the feed tray and then go down to the bottom of the cage and pick at it, throw it around and eventually push it down through the grate. Today was probably the most exciting...some of you may remember that we had been trying to get her to bathe but she has been scared of new things in her cage. This morning I refreshed her water and added fresh seed, shredded carrot and celery to her food trays and decided to place a small stalk in the water dish. What a fun experience that was; Credo took a little bit to figure out what was in the water but once she knew, it turned into "bath time!" I have never seen her get all up in her water dish the way she did today. We've decided we will get a water tube for her to use as everyday drinking water and allow the water dish as a potential bath tub. Glad I put lukewarm water in her dish this morning; it's so cold here in Ohio but a comfortable 70 in our house.
Credo has a doctor appointment tomorrow for a check-up. This will be interesting as she is very comfortable until our hands move into her cage. Still working on that so will see how the transfer from home cage to travel box goes. Update on that next week.
