I have been giving my cockatiels sunflower seeds as treats. I have small black ones and large striped ones.
Emma will fly to my forearm to get sunflower seed. After she arrives, Piper and Snowy fly over to check it out. Then P&S eat the crumbs that fall onto my sleeve as Emma eats her seed. Apparently they really like the flavor.
Birder owners say that budgies can bully cockatiels. I do notice that the budgies try to take the sunflower seeds and other treats out of the cockatiels' mouths.
As the days have gone on with this activity every morning, I noticed that the budgies have learned to crack and eat the small sunflower seeds, without any help from the cockatiels.
So, I have been using the small seeds to train P&S to step up. That's going pretty well. This morning, Piper was on my finger eating his seed and Snowy tried to fly onto my finger to get his own, or to take Piper's from him. Piper lunged at Snowy as he tried to land, and Snowy ended up completely upside down, holding onto my finger with both claws, and he couldn't figure out what to do. So, Piper started pecking at Snowy's feet. Snowy fell off and flew away.
I was reminded of scenes from old westerns where someone is clinging to a ledge and an enemy comes over and starts stamping on his fingers to get him to fall off.
It's a wild, wild, wild, wild west at my house.

This evening I was sitting in the living room with Silver on my shoulder, feeding him sunflower seeds. Emma flew over, stole a seed from right out of his mouth, and flew away. Then, she flew back and perched on my knee and I gave her some seeds.
For those of you who have been following my journey with Emma, this is quite remarkable. I was all the way across the room! I think the example of Silver is starting to have some effect on her.
Silver is still joining me for tea first thing in the morning. When I uncover the birds (after tea) they all go up on top of the cage. I go over with small and large sunflower seeds and everyone gets some, each in turn. It's really quit a sight--the four of them crowding around me.

Sounds wonderful, and like a very special ritual for you to share with your feather babies.

This sounds great! I'm happy that Emma is learning from Silver. How has silver been recently??

Silver is doing very well. He is finger tame and will sit on my shoulder. I would say that he's not as cuddly as Pammy's Mistletoe, and not as affectionate as your Lucy. In a way, I think he is a good balance. I wouldn't want him to never want to be put back on the cage. If the other birds are out, he would rather hang out with them than with me. He's not particularly bonded with any of them. He just likes being on top of the cage with them. He also likes playing with the toys in the big cage. I do make sure we have some time every day without the other birds in the picture. Emma is so funny! I can get each of the other birds on my finger by offering treats. Emma sees what's going on, but as soon as I offer my finger she backs away. She will only come on my arm, and only if I hold it about a foot away from the cage. I was stubborn last night about only offering her my finger, but she would never do it. The others got about half a dozen treats each, and she got none. Later I went back and offered my arm, and she got a couple.

Lucy has something against fingers. If you put one by her for her to perch, she will hiss. If you put one by her to pet her, she's bows her head -_-

They are all such individuals, aren't they?
