Just looking around, what is the best treat, apart from fatty millet and honey that budgies will like? I don't want to give them the sticks as that is just seeds which I already have stuck together with honey and 1 or 2 fruits in them, are the dehydrated fruits for other types of parrots any good, or any brand or product in particular? (I was thinking of Joy tutti frutti for other parrots)
My two budgies are picky as anything and have a stable diet of vetafarm nutriblend pellet/golden cob seeds 50/50, and I've been trying to introduce fruits and veggies, but they don't touch the stuff. They are healthy, happy and singing with that diet though, but I'll keep trying to intro veggies/fruits.

Have you tried mashed strawberries with seed in it? That's what cracked my birds, and its worked for some others

ive tried strawberries, they just try the fruit and then pick the bird seeds off of it, leaving the strawberries =( they starve themselves when I leave only fruit and veggies in their bowls and I have no choice but to give them the pellet/seed 50/50 mix again hard to crack birds!

Mine likes the whole corn kernels, peas (but the peas have to be squished out of its seed shell), and tiny florets from broccoli. Tried the mashed mix but they didn't care for it. You can try putting a scattering of pellets/seed underneath the veggies you are introducing so they have to touch the veggies to get to their usual food. I introduce the fresh veggies after their breakfast, and replaced the fresh with their regular pellet/seed at the end of the day. They were eating the veggies after a couple of days and now seem to look forward to getting a combo mix each morning as they usually hop down to check it out .

It took quite a while, but now my birds polish off their plate of veggies everyday. I pour frozen mixed veggies (corn, peas, carrots, green beans) onto a plate and add a few drops of water to keep it from drying out. I sprinkle one level scoop (that comes in the bag) of seeds over the top of that, and finally drop about 8 Cheerios on the very top like a cherry on a sundae. Everyday the whole plateful is completely eaten, and I witness all five birds enthusiastically eating from it.
I also keep pellet crumbles and nibbles in the cage at all times. They pick at that a little, but greatly prefer the veggie platter.
I'm looking forward to planting a small herb garden in another month or so. I'm excited to add fresh chopped basil and mint to the menu!

Lucy will eat basil when it is dried out but the man that I got Leo from told me it has no nutritional value to the birds, does anyone know if it's true? :/
