Ok I have to admit I'm lost! As you know I had thought that Tequila broke one of his wings and was therefore unable to fly. He has one wing 'overlapping' the other (last photo was taken just now) I looked this up and found it is probably some injury which leads to permanent inability to fly. So I made ladders in their room and he's been using these and enjoying his time out of the cage with all the others, up until today. I've been noting that slowly he's learning how to fly slowly down, keep his altitude for a short distance or fly up about 30 cm from the floor. Today, he's already flown round the room twice and back without any problem and hasn't used the ladder yet (He flew from the cage to the cane structure (quite a short distance), I took him up once, and the other two times he flew off and returned alone without any hesitation. Don't get me wrong, I'm overjoyed that he's managing to fly and actually able to fly round the room with the others. But does anyone have any idea what he had/has? And more importantly, is there anything I can do to encourage him to fly and help him in his recovery?

It's great that he's learning to fly again. I would think that birds love to fly and that he will keep trying and gradually do as much as he can. Just my thought, I don't know anything specific.

I'm so happy Tequila is leaning to fly! He's truly beautiful.

It was likely a severe sprain or a dislocated joint. In the case of the first problem, his muscles would eventually heal and he would be able to return to flight. If it was a dislocated joint (which seems more likely to me) He would eventually form a false joint that would allow him to return to relatively normal activity. Either way, I am super glad for you and for Tequila!

Hmmm that sounds really good and hopeful! He's getting more practice everyday with about 9 hours in their fly room Thanks!!

That's very great news! Poor little tequila, maybe he feels a little jealous of his friends flying everywhere, but now hopefully he'll be able to join them I hope his little wing keeps getting better and better
