Silver is everything I wanted in a bird!
He seems to love sitting my shoulder. A week ago he preferred to be with the other birds. Now, he likes to be with me at least as much.
Meanwhile, it seems that Emma is coming around a little bit. Out of the blue, she will fly to my shoulder if Silver is with me. And, she will stay a while. I am often startled to realize it is she that has flown to me. I think Silver has definitely had an effect on her. She will watch us together. At night, after the doors on big cage are closed for the night, but before it is covered, I see her watching us.
When I take Silver into the dining room the other birds call for him. Silver will call back a little, but is mostly happy to be with me while I play my dulcimer. When I bring him back to the living room the other three are standing on the cage top, looking at the doorway, waiting for him to come back. They look so cute! I tell Silver "See that? Your friends are waiting for you." It's funny, because (except for Piper) they don't interact with him much. But, they like him to be there. I guess it's like parallel play in toddlers.
The program I have used seems to have worked well: keeping Silver completely separate for about a week, then letting him be near the big cage with the other birds inside, then letting them all out together. At night, I still put Silver into his own cage so we can have our special time in the morning. Then, we go over together to wake up the big cage. This morning when I opened the big cage the first thing hat happened was Emma flew right to my shoulder! First time for that!

This all sounds just wonderful, Diana! So happy for you. I'm especially happy that things with Emma are slowly but surely improving.
I feel that I understand a tiny bit of what you are going thru with Emma coming to you a little bit. Kringle has started to fly to me or near me a few times each day. If I am sitting on the couch and Mistletoe is with me, Kringle might fly over and perch on the back of the couch for a minute. Sometimes he will perch on my offered finger for just a moment, before flying back to the cage. This morning, Kringle flew to me and landed on my head. I love that he is reaching out and trying to spend a little bit of time with me.

I am happy that you are also experiencing some success with Kringle. It's so heartwarming when they finally start reaching out, even if it's just a little. I think there is probably more to come for both of us.

Monday night when Rachel was here, I commented that I love all of my birds so much, and she said, "But you only cuddle with Mistletoe." That's true. He's the only one who wants to cuddle. Once in a rare while I can hold December for a minute! and Kringle has begin reaching out. I do hope the day eventually comes when I can freely hold any one of my five birds. I hope it for myself, and for Kringle, Clausy, Noel, December and Mistletoe. Mistletoe, CHECK! One down, four to go!
