[sigh]
Emma has decided that lampshades are a great place to perch and chew. My lampshades do not have plastic covers on them. Anyone have a solution to protecting lampshades from chewing and pooping?

B & C have a lampshade next to their cage and it had decorative beads on the bottom and they pulled them all off my mom put their cage cover always on that end of the cage from now on. Lucy chews my blinds but I don't care because I have new ones I'm waiting to put up. Can you cover the shade with anything while she is out? Or put new toys for her to shred on top of her cage where she can play with them ?

Hi, Lisa, and thanks for the suggestions.
I have increased the toys on top of their cage, including some new shredding toys.
With regard to covering the lampshades, I have a stainless steal bowl upside down over one of them and a plastic bowl upside down on top of the other one. This is working. However, I am hoping for a more permanent and aesthetic solution.

Perhaps something crunchy like wax paper? Cut a piece of wax paper, punch some holes in the middle to allow the heat of the bulb to pass easily and tape to just overlap the edge of the lampshade. If she attempts to land, the wax paper would spook her enough I think to keep her away . I put wax paper on top of one of my window's sashes as they loved to chew on this one window, don't know why. Now they avoid that window like the plague as the wax paper is slippery and crunchy. I may be able to remove it soon as they do not even like to go near it.

I may try the wax paper! I did try aluminum foil, but the budgies perched on it and started trying to eat it :-(.
