This woman has a 3 month old cockatiel. He broke his ankle. She took him to the vet, who anesthetized him and set the fracture, and sent him home. This video is his first night home in his hospital cage. You can see the little blue cast on the foot. The video brought tears to my eyes.

This person was very lucky to have a vet to be able to do that procedure for the baby bird. Such a cute little guy!!

Aww what a sweet baby! Human comfort like this is just so important to a tame bird. Untamed birds with flockmates will get the same level of attention and concern from their companions when they are hurt or scared, but for those of us with totally tame birds, its important to remember that we have to treat them like toddlers: they need cuddles and kisses almost as much as veterinary care to heal and thrive after something traumatic like this.
