I do really love my birdies.
However, today I moved the cage out from the wall to wash off the drops of blood from Silver yesterday. Also had to wash the leather chair, vacuum a Huge Amount of feathers and seed from the floor around the cage, then wash the blood spots off the floor.
I am exhausted!
I am thinking about putting a paper barrier behind the cage (I mean, I really hope we won't have another blood incident, but you never know, and other things seem to get thrown out and stuck to the wall also).
I must say, I think the cleaning is getting worse. I just turned 67, and cleaning is getting more and more tiring.
Also, Emma has decided it's a great idea to perch on the window frame and chew it. Then, she poops on the shade, and it does not clean easily because it is a fabric shade (I have six windows in the iving room, and each has its very own fabric shade. They all match).
Suggestions or supportive comments more than welcome.
However, I do love my birdies :-).

I totally agree re having something between the cage and the wall. Dad had cut out a piece of sturdy material the size of the cage and it really helped for cleaning purposes. I can ask what the material is exactly if you'd like.
It's so great though that you can still clean up and take such good care of all 4 birds (ps not calling you too old or anything but I know people your age who definitely cannot take such good care of pets due to health reasons) well done

Thank you! Today I scotched tape some large newsprint sheets to the back of the cage. I'm not sure it's sturdy enough to last, so I would DEFINITELY be interested in what your Dad used, in case in a month or two I have to do something more sturdy. By the way, my brother installed a three bulb light fixture above the cage. I got some full spectrum lights for it, and it brightens up the cage a lot. And, I am sure it's good for them. Here is a picture of it, just before we moved the cage back under it.

Wow, the new lighting fixture looks fabulous, and I have to say that your walls look wonderfully clean to me, Diana.
Yes, the mess is overwhelming sometimes to me, too. The mess is significantly more than I was bargaining for when I got this whole wild hair of getting birds. I have to remind myself that any baby poops and makes lots of messes, and how I do love babies.

Yesterday I discovered the birds chewing up the paper I had taped behind the cage! Fortunately, I had some very wide clear tape, that seems to have thwarted them for now. Also, yesterday I discovered that theyhave been chewing on one of my nice wood picture frames.
I love my birds; I love my birds.

Have you considered a more permanent solution? Perhaps some adhesive linoleum tiles on the floor and walls would make a good solution: easy to clean and difficult to damage.
