I made a big mistake and it really broke my heart. Curacao seems to like to stay in my hoodie pocket, so yesterday when I wanted to go near the other birds to get their kebab stick to place more veg I left him in there and we went together. Today I repeated this, but he came out onto my hand. Literally within seconds (honestly less than 10 seconds), Kermit flew to the nearest place on the cane structure looking at him. Moments later she was on my hand (something she never does except for food, and not so easily) and talking to him in a very low voice kind of asking if he's ok and asking if she can get closer. At that point I had to take Cu back inside because I don't want to risk any of my others getting sick. But it was so so so precious to see Kermit be so loving and caring towards him. It really broke my heart that I cannot let them stay together.
And she's like that with all of them. When I first introduced her to the others (she's my latest addition to the flock) she would make sure she went near everyone. At that time Tequila was still having a lot of trouble flying and would rather stay in the cage, so she'd go the cage near him and invite him out and stay with him till he got to the ladder and made his way up near the others. It was honestly so touching to see her calm down from all her hyper-ness (she really is hyper and doesn't stay still for a moment) and see to Tequila's needs and make sure he's comfortable enough to join them in the flock. I never saw Kermit fly down low or move slowly except when 'helping out' Tequila. She also does this with Sky at times when Sky tries to be alone (she's still quite a loner and wants time on her own in the corner).
